This Racing chair  from Noblechairs’ EPIC series is one of the most comfortable gaming chairs we’ve tested.

Even after hours of non-stop gaming, my back didn’t feel strained and my arms were well supported. The chair’s high quality material mimics that of the interior of a high-end car.

You can adjust the amount of pressure required to recline your seat, which is one of our favorite features about the chair. It’s comfortable, ergonomic, made from high-quality leather, and it feels like a premium Racing chair . Unfortunately, it is a bit on the expensive side. If the price came down a tad, the chair would be an absolute steal!

Nevertheless, you definitely get what you pay for. If you’re looking for an incredibly comfortable gaming chair from a reputable company, this is the chair for you.

2. Herman Miller Embody

Most Ergonomic Gaming Chair

  • Seat type: Office chair
  • Seat height: 16-20.5”
  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs
  • Weight: 51 lbs
  • Material: Multi-layer fabric
  • Incredible design
  • Unparalleled support
  • Price

The Herman Miller Embody office chair was crafted by experts with ergonomics in mind. In fact, more than 20 physicians and PhDs in the fields of vision, physical therapy, ergonomics, and biomechanics contributed to this chair’s construction.

The Embody chair uses a dynamic matrix of pixels to automatically conform to your body’s every movement, no matter how big or small it is.

In this way, your weight is evenly distributed as you sit. By reducing pressure on your body and encouraging movement, the Herman Miller Embody chair helps to maintain healthy circulation while simultaneously increasing your focus.

The back of the chair’s design is probably one of its coolest features. Resembling human anatomy, the back of the Embody has a central spine and flexible ribs. You can even adjust the position of the backrest with your spine’s natural shape, helping you maintain a balanced posture.

After you’ve adjusted the chair to suit your needs-- which can take some time to nail down-- it will automatically adjust whenever you shift positions. Whether you’re reclining or leaning forward in your seat, you’ll never be without adequate support.

3. Corsair T2 Road Warrior

A Good Gaming Chair from a Great Company

  • Seat type: Racing chair
  • Seat height: 20.2-23.6”
  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs
  • Weight: 54 lbs
  • Material: Multi-layer fabric
  • Adjustable back support
  • Stylish look
  • Armrests are shaky

Corsair is well known in the PC gaming community. They manufacture all sorts of products, from power supplies to gaming mice, so it’s not surprising that they’ve decided to create their own PC gaming chairs as well.

The T2 Road Warrior is a luxurious gaming chair constructed from premium material. Featuring a steel base and comfortable PU leather upholstery, the chair was built to last.

What we like the most about this chair, however, is its incredible adjustability. The seat’s height can be adjusted up and down, and you can also adjust the incline of the backrest.

Moreover, its armrests can be adjusted in four different directions: up and down, side to side, back and forth; they can even be tilted at an angle.

4. NeueChair

A Good Gaming Chair

NeueChair
  • Seat type: Office chair
  • Seat height: 18.5-22”
  • Weight capacity: 240 lbs
  • Weight: 64 lbs
  • Material: 3-layer NeueMesh
  • Sturdy
  • Build quality
  • Adjustability
  • Price

The NeueChair isn’t flashy by any means, but from a functionality standpoint, it’s superb. When you think of a ‘gaming chair’, this probably isn’t what you picture in your mind.

Aesthetically speaking, if you’re looking for a flashy racing chair, this isn’t the one for you. Still, it’s pretty stylish, especially if you’re into more minimalist designs; well, this is minimalist compared to most racing chairs. It also comes in a variety of different colors, so if the all black isn’t for you, then something else might be.

Looks aside, this chair is built to withstand the test of time. It has a sturdy construction, something that immediately becomes apparent when you realize how heavy the chair is in relation to its size.

The chair has a seemingly endless amount of adjustment options, from the lumbar support to the armrests. It’s one of the highest quality office chairs we’ve tested on this list. If you can manage to put out the dough for the high price, you’ll be thoroughly satisfied.

5. Secretlab Omega

Best Racing Gaming Chair

  • Seat type: Racing chair
  • Seat height: 14.5-18”
  • Weight capacity: 240 lbs
  • Weight: 66 lbs
  • Material: PU Leather
  • Plenty of adjustment options
  • Ergonomic
  • Best suited for short people

The Secretlab Omega is one of the best racing style gaming chairs that we’ve tested; the Secretlab Secret scientists clearly worked hard to craft a quality chair.

The casters, chair base, lift mechanism, armrests, and the seat back were all engineered with the best materials. The chair itself uses a comfortable cold-cured foam lined with PU leather-- it’s incredibly comfortable, even after gaming for hours at a time.

It also has plenty of adjustment options, something that is a must have when it comes to buying a gaming chair. For example, the armrests can be adjusted in four different ways: up and down, side to side, back and forth, and at an angle. Moreover, you can also adjust the seat height and the backrest as well.

The chair is best suited for those who are 5’10 or shorter, and less than 200 lbs. Although, if you are a bit heavier it shouldn’t be much of an issue, as the chair is built well. With that being said, taller people should probably look for a different chair that would cater to longer legs and a larger torso.

6. Noblechairs ICON

Highly rated gaming chair

Noblechairs ICON
  • Seat type: Racing chair
  • Seat height: 18.9-22.8”
  • Weight capacity: 400 lbs
  • Weight: 62 lbs
  • Material: PU Leather
  • Excellent build quality
  • Comfortable
  • Sub par support pillow

Noblechairs is making another appearance on our top 10 list, and for good reason. Just like their Epic Real Leather model, the ICON is highly reviewed by all who have had the luxury of sitting on it.

From an aesthetic standpoint, the chair has a streamlined shape and a sleek feel. It’s available in a variety of different colors, but midnight blue is our favorite.

Featuring dense cold foam upholstery, the chair is more resilient to wear and tear than others on the market. Despite being more affordable than their other gaming chairs, the ICON’s construction is sturdy thanks to the high-quality materials Noblechairs used to manufacture this Racing chair . The cheaper model is lined with PU Leather, although you can order yours with real leather for an additional cost.

Ergonomics and comfortability go hand in hand, and they’re two of the most important traits of a high-quality chair, especially when you’ll be sitting in it for hours on end. This chair’s ergonomic design is great for gamers large and small, as it is fully adjustable and provides fantastic lumbar support.

7. Office Master OM5

Most comfortable gaming chair due to automatic adjustments

Office Master OM5
  • Seat type: Office chair
  • Seat height: 16-21”
  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs
  • Weight: 64 lbs
  • Material: Polyflex back, fabric seat
  • Automatic ‘smart’ adjustments
  • Comfortability
  • Price

The Office Master OM5 automatically adjusts itself to suit your body type without you having to make manual adjustments yourself. It may sound crazy to those who have never tried it-- how could a chair adjust itself?-- but it works.

Although there are a few manual adjustment options, most of the action happens behind the scenes. As you lean back, the seat moves forward while the backrest reclines simultaneously. The chair uses wheels on runners that operate similarly to drawer tracks.

It may feel a tad weird at first, but after a little getting used to the chair is incredibly comfortable. You can easily switch between reclining in your chair and gaming without having to adjust any levers or knobs.

All in all, the OM5 delivers comfort and quality for those who cannot be bothered with making manual adjustments to their chair every time they want to switch positions.

Its $500+ price tag may be a bit too expensive for some gamers-- still, you get what you pay for. The OM5 will provide you with the necessary support you need to feel your best after sitting for a long time, regardless of your position.

8. Steelcase Gesture

The Best Computer Chair

  • Seat type: Office chair
  • Seat height: 14.7-25”
  • Weight capacity: 300 lbs
  • Weight: 64 lbs
  • Material: Polyflex back, fabric seat
  • Color options
  • Ergonomic
  • Price

If you can look past this chair’s admittedly high price tag of nearly $1,000, you’ll have an incredibly comfortable chair that will last you the rest of your life. If it makes you feel any better, know that this chair felt better than just about every other chair on this list by a long shot. There’s a reason this is one of Herman Miller Embody’s primary competitors, after all.

This chair was built to provide you with the utmost comfort and satisfaction for a long time, as its construction is not only sturdy, but durable as well.

It’s a good looking office chair with a plethora of adjustment options, making it easy to cater the chair to your body type. When it comes to buying a gaming office chair, you can’t skip ergonomics. Luckily, the Steelcase Gesture feels great.

When you sit in this chair, your butt and lower back are perfectly supported by the chair as if you were sitting on a magical cloud-- except, it’s not a cloud, it’s the Steelcase Gesture.

9. Office Star ProGrid

Customization for cheap

Office Star ProGrid
  • Seat type: Office chair
  • Seat height: 15-18.2”
  • Weight capacity: 275 lbs
  • Weight: 41 lbs
  • Material: Mesh
  • Affordable
  • Adjustable
  • Comfortable
  • Requires a lot of fiddling

The Office Star ProGrid is a fantastic budget option. It has many adjustment options, many of which would usually only be found on a more expensive chair.

It’s not a flashy chair, nor is it particularly stylish, yet it still receives consistently positive reviews across the board. Using its many levers, you can adjust the tilt and height of the chair, in addition to the seat pan, and the backrest height. Lastly, the armrests can also be raised or lowered and slid back and forth until you find what works for you.

It takes a while to adjust everything perfectly, but once you have everything all set, you’ll be surprised as to how comfortable you are in such a cheap office chair. It’s a strong contender, and it’s hard to beat the chair’s price, especially since many of our other options are a little pricey.

10. Respawn 200

The best budget gaming chair

Respawn 200
  • Seat type: Racing chair
  • Seat height: 18.75-22.25”
  • Weight capacity: 275 lbs
  • Weight: 51 lbs
  • Material: Mesh
  • Budget friendly
  • Sleek Design
  • Backrest
  • Build quality

It’s not the cheapest gaming chair on the market, but the Respawn 200 is still fairly priced as it usually sits around or right above the $200 mark.

When it comes to comfortability, the chair lives up to expectations. Overall, it provides pretty good back support, and the armrests are adjustable too which is pretty nice. Unfortunately, you can’t adjust the armrests in and out-- this may be an issue for people of larger/smaller sizes.

As far as ergonomics goes, the chair could be better. The backrest can be difficult to use at times, and the adjustable levers are also hard to reach while sitting. The chair is best suited for taller individuals. It’s possible to maintain good posture in this chair, although it can prove difficult especially after several hours of nonstop use.

Looks, assembly, and price are where this chair really shines. It’s relatively cheap-- considering what you’re getting-- it looks great, it’s easy to set up, and it has a stylish mesh backing.

Keep in mind, however, that if you get cold easily, you may want to choose a leather or cloth material as opposed to a metal mesh backing. Metal mesh doesn’t retain heat well, and you may quickly find yourself feeling colder than you’d like. On the other hand, if you get too hot while gaming, a mesh chair is perfect for you.

All in all, the Respawn 200 is a budget-friendly gaming chair. It’s pretty comfortable once you make the necessary adjustments, especially if you’re taller. It looks sleek, and despite having plastic in its construction, it’s still a durable gaming chair that will last a while. For less than $250, it’s a great deal.

How to Pick the Best Gaming Chair for Your Needs

Why A Gaming Chair Matters

Here’s the deal: humans are now spending more time than ever sitting. We sit at school, work, in transit, and even watching TV and playing video games.

Our ancestors walked more than 10+ miles a day as hunter-gatherers, and we have evolved accordingly. If you take a look at the entirety of human history, we only recently began sitting this often.

As a gamer, you’ll spend even more time sitting than the average Joe, which puts you at high risk for ‘sitting disease’ and back disorders.

I can fondly recall many ‘all-nighters’ where my friends and I would game until the sun came up, only to sleep until 4 in the afternoon. Then we’d do it all over again. The kitchen chair left my back aching through the night and made it hard to fall asleep. When I finally upgraded to a proper gaming chair, the difference was night and day.

If you’ve had experiences like this, you already know what I’m talking about; that’s probably why you’re reading this article to begin with.

What to Look For

Finding the right chair for you can be challenging, as we all come in different shapes and sizes. There is no one “best” chair for any given person– still, some chairs are better than others.

While getting up and moving around in between levels and rounds proves especially useful for minimizing lower back pain, a gaming chair will still help with all of the hours actually spent sitting.

Here are the most important factors to look for:

Ergonomics: A gaming chair must be ergonomic. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, ergonomic is defined as:

“an applied science concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely”

In other words, ergonomic products are well-designed to accommodate the human body. In this instance, a quality gaming chair should provide adequate lower-back support, comfortable armrests, soft padding in the right places, height adjustments, etc.

The best chairs will be able to use these tools, and the ones below, to improve your posture which will ideally lead to health benefits.

  • Height control: This feature is pretty standard among both office and gaming chairs alike. In order to maintain healthy posture while gaming, your feet need to remain flat on the floor with your legs bent at ~90°. If your chair is too high or low, you won’t be able to sit properly and you’ll quickly become uncomfortable.
  • Tension adjustment: Tension control allows you to adjust the amount of pressure needed to lean back in your chair. This one isn’t as important as some of the other adjustment features, but can be important nonetheless.

I used to have a gaming chair that would recline too easily and managed to fling myself out of it when I leaned back too fast after losing a match.

  • Backrest lock: Some chairs actually allow you to lock the backrest in place in addition to adjusting backrest tension.
  • Armrest height control: Although often overlooked, this feature is actually pretty important. If your armrests are not at the proper height for your body, discomfort is sure to ensue.
  • Seat slider: This feature allows you to adjust the seat forward or backward in relation to the chair’s backrest. This feature is an excellent way to tailor your gaming chair specifically for your body type and needs.

Material: Before you purchase a gaming chair, it would be wise to consider the material from which it is constructed. In general, most gaming chairs are made with leather padding or a metal wire mesh material.

If you often find yourself getting too hot during your gaming sessions, a mesh material is probably best for you. Wire mesh tends to be more breathable than leather, and it will help to keep you cool.

On the other hand, leather is better for those who get cold easily. Leather helps to retain heat, and it is pretty comfortable as well.

Build quality: This one is pretty straightforward. You don’t want a chair with poor construction that’ll wear down and crumble underneath you after you spend your hard-earned money on it. Most of the charis we featured have steel innards though, so this shouldn’t be a big deal.

Casters: The casters (wheels, if your chair has them) take a heavy beating, as they’re supporting the chair’s weight and yours as well. They roll around without hesitation– well, at least they’re supposed to. When you’re buying your next gaming chair, make sure you buy one with heavy duty casters.

Generally speaking there are two types of casters: hardwood floor casters and carpet casters. If your gaming setup is in a carpeted room, you should choose your chair’s casters accordingly.

Style: Just like you purchased a good-looking, sleek PC case to look nice on your desk, you should also purchase a gaming chair that you find visually pleasing to compliment your gaming setup.

Some gaming chairs on our list will resemble office chairs, while others are full blown racing gaming chairs. All of them– despite having different designs and color schemes– have ergonomic and comfortable designs.
