Time flies as Amazon Prime Day 2021 is almost upon us. It only seems like yesterday since Prime Day 2020 was here – in fact, it was closer than you think as it was delayed due to the pandemic, but now Amazon is getting things back to a new normal this year at least.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

We all know by now that Prime Day is all about deals but let’s take a look at a brief history of how it came about and what you can expect from the whole event.

Prime Day’s inception was actually on Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezo’s anniversary – July 15, 2015 and has occurred every year since. The discounts to be had were mainly in two categories – tech and general electronics and instead of it being a fully structured event, it was more of a ‘flash’ sale to give back to dedicated Amazon users. Nowadays, Prime Day is much different, bigger, and better, usually spanning over two full days with a plethora of deals across a whole host of different categories. There are also ‘early’ discounts that become available, essentially making the whole affair that bit longer.

When is Prime Day 2021?

While Amazon Prime Day 2020 was rescheduled due to COVID-19 reasons, meaning it actually almost coincided with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this isn’t the case for 2021. In fact, Prime Day 2021 is the earliest it has ever been with the official start date of June 21st, 2021. It’ll span over June 21st and June 22nd with deals and discount galore across the two days.
