Bandai Namco offers their update on the classic arcade game as a freebie

He’s been on the scene for 40 years, but he’s still kicking. Pac-Man may not quite be the superstar he once was, but in his own way, he’s still been able to stay relevant. He’s had a few solid newer games that experiment with the format and take a playful approach to remixing the classic arcade game. One such game is Pac-Man Championship Edition, a fast-paced neon-drenched spin-off game, where you’re still moving around a maze, dodging ghosts and collecting dots, but it’s full of pretty shiny lights, and trippy effects and visuals.

Bandai Namco has decided to offer up the second game in the series, conveniently titled Pac-Man Championship Edition 2, as a freebie for people stuck at home looking for something to do when self-isolating due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting right now, and running until May 10, you can grab Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 for absolutely free, and as long as you get it during this time, it’s yours to keep. As Bandai Namco put it:

“We will be sending our beloved goodwill ambassador, PAC-MAN, into everyone’s homes by making PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 available for free”

It’s available for free right now on Steam, simply log into Steam and add it to your account, and it’s yours. They have also made the game free on Playstation and Xbox, so if you’d prefer to play it there, go ahead and grab it from those console’s respective digital storefronts.

It’s a real fun game, and free certainly can’t be sniffed at. Definitely worth giving it a shot.

Have you been spending more time playing games whilst self-isolating? Are you old enough to remember the original Pac-Man? Will you be grabbing this freebie? Let us know in the comments.
