Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics Card Review Roundup

Today, the official embargo for reviews of the highly anticipated, “titan GPU for 8K gaming” – the GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card – has lifted. It’s time to see if NVIDIA’s most powerful graphics card in the company’s history chalks up, and we’re expecting a lot.

Ultimately, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 has delivered on all counts. In terms of power and performance, the 3090 is being lauded as the most powerful GPU…ever.

Still, the bottom line for most reviews suggest that, if you’re not a professional creator, or someone with the means to access an 8K gaming experience, you might be better off saving your money. For the price difference between the 3090 and 3080, casual gamers are likely better off going for the 3080, or even waiting for the 3070.

Guru3D said: “For gaming, we do not feel the 3090 makes a substantial enough difference over the RTX 3080 with 10 to 15% differentials, and that’s mainly due to system bottlenecks really. You need to game at Ultra HD and beyond for this card to make a bit of sense.” PC Gamer drew the same conclusion, stating,  “there are very few people who I would recommend the $1,500 RTX 3090 to. And none of them are gamers.” Despite this, the overwhelming verdict is that the 3090 is a beast – albeit one that caters to a niche market – and, if you have a way to reap its full potential, you’ll be onto a winner.
