Predator Triton 500 and Nitro 5 Gaming Notebooks Announced By Acer

Today Acer made the announcement that they are going to be releasing the Predator Triton 500 and Nitro 5 Gaming Notebooks, and with it, some juicy details on the technical specifications on what is going to make these gaming Notebooks in particular so special.

Acer have made some pretty great gaming laptops and notebooks before, so no one is doubting their ability to manufacture something reliable for gaming on the go – but its great to learn a little more about how the next generation of gaming notebooks from Acer will perform.

Starting with what Acer is dubbing the gaming notebook to prove that gaming notebooks ‘don’t need to break the bank’, the Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Notebook is set to ship with a 10th gen intel core i7, which is apparently set to deliver 5ghz performance out of the box.

These CPUs are going to be paired with one of three different graphics card options: Either a GeForce RTX 2060, the latest GeForce GTX 1650Ti or the 1650 will work as the notebooks GPU – which, considering the high spec CPU that is promised to be installed with the notebook as standard means that gamers can expect to come up against no throttling or performance issues at all.

Speaking of graphical performance, it seems that Acer wanted to make sure that nothing would impede their newest gaming notebooks when it comes to gaming performance, so they made sure that the notebook’s screen reflects the highly demanding gameplay that would be expected of it.

The screen itself is an FHD 15.6 inch display, with a 14Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time, which allows for blur-free gameplay. Pretty exciting when you consider that this is a notebook, designed for affordability.

Obviously, when it comes to this kind of performance within a gaming notebook the question of cooling is going to be raised – luckily, Acer seems to have thought of the perfect answer. The Nitro 5 will come equipped with a dual-fan cooling system that works in conjunction with expertly placed intake/exhaust ports to achieve (by Acers measurements) a ‘25% improvement in thermal performance over the 2019 model.’

Impressive, but Acer didn’t stop there. They have also built-in CoolBoost tech to increase the fan speed by ten percent should the user want to use it, which can also help cool the CPU/GPU by a further 9%.

All in all, this promises to be a killer gaming notebook, with reliable hardware (including up to two M.2 PCIe SSDs, a one terabyte HDD and up to 32GB of DD4R4 Ram) that will be coming onto the market at a reasonable price of $749.99 (€899). If you are looking for an affordable way to enjoy gaming on the go, then it is definitely worth paying attention to what Acer is doing.

Where the Nitro 5 Gaming Notebook looks to prove that a gaming notebook doesn’t have to break the bank, Acer is trying to prove with the Triton that this gaming notebook is capable of taking on the toughest challenges.

Acer has said that the Triton is perfect for gaming, and those ‘who stream or need to edit and render videos while on the go’, and its hard to doubt them when you take a look at the technical specifications of the notebook itself.

Kitted out with the latest in the line of Intel’s 10th gen core processors as well as either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super or 2070 super GPUs with a Max-W design to make sure there is no performance throttling from either the CPU or GPU. Acer wants you to enjoy the performance of the notebook for a while too and are promising up to 7.5 hours of battery life for the notebook when in use – not bad at all when you consider some of the different gaming laptops and notebooks on the market today.

The Predator Triton also comes stacked with 32gb of DDR4 memory, and up to 2 TB of NVMe RAID 0 SSD storage – all very promising when it comes to performance, but with hardware specs like this cooling is going to play a very important role – and Acer have thought this through.

The Triton gaming notebook will feature Acer’s Vortex Flow Tech, a new design involving three custom-engineered fans strategically placed in the notebook itself that work together to reduce both overall temperature and noise. Promising, especially when you consider that this notebook might be tasked with some demanding functions in its day to day use – but it doesn’t stop there.

Acer has also included the CoolBoost tech to allow for user-specified fan speed, which can all be monitored via the PredatorSense UI installed on the notebook, meaning that this could be a very user-friendly gaming notebook.

All of this is brought together with the Triton’s screen, which promises a 300Hz IPS panel, with a 3ms overdrive response time and 100% sRGB color gamut display that also supports wide viewing angles and yes; Nvidia’s G-sync technology.

Basically, the Triton should offer gamers seamless and immersive gaming experiences on the go, with reliable cooling solutions and high speed, easily manageable connectivity (The Triton is equipped with a Killer W-Fi 6 AX1650i wireless controller, that works with Control Center 2.0 to deliver stable connections that allow you to prioritize bandwidth when you need it) put together in an all-metal chassis that weighs just 2.1kgs – seriously impressive stuff for a gaming notebook that promises such high performance.
