As downloading games digitally has become increasingly popular, streaming said games to your devices has popped up as a result. However, with the likes of Google Stadia not performing as well as expected, some are already voicing some serious concerns on whether or not we’re actually ready for it. Contrary to this, it seems Microsoft and Xbox are doubling down on their own game streaming service Project xCloud to sway doubters.
Project xCloud has been in beta for some time now in select countries with over 50 games added to the roster. But, Microsoft has now stated in a blog post that it will now be opened up to 11 new European countries, allowing pretty much the whole of Western Europe to get their hands on the exciting tech. These countries include Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden but there hasn’t been any official word on when it’ll go live, especially considering the current problem ISP’s are having with their bandwidth. Microsoft, however, has alluded to the fact that they want to get it rolling as soon as possible but are aware of the aforementioned issue, beginning rollouts when they are “confident it is sensible to do so” so that they can “bring joy and connection at all times”, particularly during the “weeks and months when we’re asked to stay at home”.
Android users in the previously stated countries will be able to register their interest now and when the launch window gets the go-ahead, further information will be emailed to you directly.
