Redesigned Slack app rolled out on iOS App Store

A new look Slack on your iPhone

New Slack iOS app

With Slack becoming the go-to instant messaging service for businesses, consistent updates both in terms of UI and any additional features are almost a requirement. Thankfully, Slack Technologies are on the ball, recently releasing a brand new design for their android app and now, they’ve similarly begun rolling out a revamped app for iOS users.

The Android variant was released on May 5th and has seen some positive feedback due to the simplistic navigation and clear to see notifications. Slack Technologies suggested that this was the main priority by writing in the update notes:

“Previously, it was complicated to get to the four main things people do on mobile,” “We’ve fixed this with a new nifty navigation bar at the bottom of the app containing: a Home view for your sidebar, DMs, (still listed most recent first), Mentions (for quickly catching up), and You (because you’re great) (and also because setting your status/preferences on mobile needed to be easier).”

As seen by the screenshot below of the improved UI, it is simplistic, while still having the features of the desktop variant. Of course, you’ll still be getting that bit of Slack personality with the trademark colors and the ability to send your favorite GIFs.

This is a timely release for many due to the vast majority of people working from home and will certainly make it far easier for iPhone users to navigate different channels and communicate effectively.

Are you using Slack as your main source of communication with your work colleagues during this trying time? Or are video conferencing tools like Zoom the standard within your business? Slack is definitely worth a try, especially now it’s looking and feeling slicker on mobile devices. Give it a download and see if it tickles your fancy.
