SteelSeries Aquire audio heroes Nahimic

Popular peripheral manufacturer SteelSeries have today announced they have acquired highly-respected 3D audio solution company Nahimic.

You might not have heard of Nahimic itself but you will have heard the standard of their audio if you have ever played on a top-of-the-range gaming laptop from the likes of Gigabyte.

Christian Cooper at SteelSeries said: “Nahimic’s expertise will benefit us in our efforts with further developing and expanding SteelSeries Engine. You can be excited for greater audio control and customization as our future efforts with Nahimic will help everyone enjoy the Arctis audio experience to the fullest.

Given Nahimic‘s accomplished background in gaming audio, we’re looking forward to bringing cutting-edge audio software technology to gamers everywhere. We’re excited to continuously develop products you can use to have more fun and win more games!”

SteelSeries Arctis headsets are popular here at the PC Guide office and we expect the new technology from Nahimic will be integrated into future releases. At the moment software enhancements on the laptops are tweaked via a control panel. This will probably now make its way into SteelSeries software.

To celebrate the deal, which is due to complete this spring, SteelSeries is offering 20% of any Arctis headset until the end of Easter Monday if you checkout with the code NAHIMIC20 – so if you were looking to upgrade your audio, jump on this quickly.
