Dr. Lisa Su Hosts AMD’s CES 2021 Keynote Speech In January 2021

Next year’s CES show is set to feature a keynote speech from the CEO of AMD, Dr. Lisa Su. You might be familiar with Dr. Su following her reveal of both the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs and, of course, the 6000 series Radeon GPUs that were unveiled only last month.

Now, PC users get to look forward to a whole new year of AMD innovation, with Dr. Lisa Su taking to the stage to tell us more about what lies in store for Team Red over the course of 2021.

Whilst the details of what AMD is going to be revealing at the event are still (obviously) under wraps, we can make a pretty good guess at what’s going to be expanded upon based on what has already been revealed.

Firstly, we probably have the unveiling of the long-awaited 6700 series GPUs from AMD. The Radeon lineup of graphics cards has been missing a contender to pit against the 3060 Ti, and judging by recent leaks it’s very likely that we could see these cards for the very first time at the keynote speech itself.

Hopefully, we will get more information than just a passing mention of the existence of the card, but if the 6700 series is anything like the work that AMD put into the 6800 and the 6900 series, then we are definitely in for a GPU that can handle a very positive performance versus price ratio, strongly opposed to Nvidia’s offering.

Of course, it isn’t just GPUs that could take a prime position during the keynote speech. There is also a lot of buzz concerning the possibility of AMD revealing their 5000 series in mobile form.

For those not up to speed on the lingo, this means that we could be seeing the introduction of the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs into assets like laptops and other non-desktop devices. Basically, we could be seeing vastly improves speed in all kinds of computers, which is great – especially with the timing of new GPUs launching, as we might even see new gaming laptops set to support the Ryzen 5000 series and some of the new GPU releases.

Of course, these rumors aren’t out of the blue. We have known for a while that the codenames for the Ryzen 5000 mobile series are Cezanne and Lucienne, so seeing these projects come to light and learning more about the Zen 3 (and Zen 2) refresh core architecture they are based on is going to be very exciting.

As far as rumors that we can take a guess at with a reasonable degree of accuracy, this is as much as we know so far. Don’t worry though, as the PC Guide team will be reporting on any further developments and on the live keynote itself when the time comes!
