AMD Radeon RX 6800 GPU Review Roundup

It looks like the 6800 and the 6800 XT GPUs from AMD finally launched today! I say looks like because we’re stumped trying to actually find anyone who managed to get their hands on an actual card….anyway, the reviews are out for AMD’s RX 6800 GPU, and its time to find out just how this card performs, and how it performs against its opposite b budget option in the Nvidia 30 series!

So, before we jump into the reviews from around the web let’s talk about what you need to know about these cards; the bottom line review of the RX 6800 by AMD.

In short, this new GPU is a definite move into the big leagues by AMD, with the 6800 posing clear competition to Nvidia in that their ‘budget’ level GPU is actually more powerful than the 3070, and offers near 6800 XT levels of performance for a low price. In fact, this is the first time in years it’s easy to say that the AMD GPUs on offer are in fact a viable and almost too close to call alternative to the Nvidia offerings.

if you want some solid benchmarking scores to place this card within a bracket of performance, then you will be interested to know that at stock settings, the RX 6800 scored 15043 points in a 3D mark timespy test – 100 points above the 3070 and about 200 points below the 3080. When it comes to in-game performance, it looks like the 6800 is hovering between the 3070 FE and the 3080 FE in terms of frame rate – but only time will tell how modern architecture adapts to future in-game performance.

By and large, this GPU is the one to go for if you are looking for the best budget graphics card that gives you the most bang for your buck when it comes to gaming and all round performance.
